Worms: Armageddon: The Game

Worms: Armageddon is the final installment of the Worms series which started out on the Amiga all these years ago and has since acquired cult-status. As such, it requires little introduction.

As in the previous installments of the series, Worms: Armageddon is all about two teams of Worms battling it out with a variety of traditional (grenade, shotgun) to makeshift (baseball bat, blowtorch) to unorthodox weapons (exploding old women, burning sheep tumbling down) against randomly generated surreal backgrounds. The game is turn-based in the sense that you and your opponent take turns, moving your Worms in position one by one whilst taking pot-shots at the enemy.

A lot of effort went into setting the mood of the game from the bombastic militaristic soundtracks to the over-the-top animation of the Worms and the impressive special effects. The gameplay itself is challenging and has you coming back for more because of its sophisticated physics and damage modeling which can lead to unpredictable chain reactions. But don't worry if you missed something: an automatic replay function of especially unbelievable chains of events is provided for.

The game can be played either in single player mode or in multiplayer competition over the fully integrated Worms.net Internet play server.
